18日13時から観音護摩供法要を開催します。
六角堂において護摩を焚き、皆様のお願いごとを祈願いたします。

【本日の豆知識～如意輪観音菩薩～】
何故観音菩薩の翻訳名が2種類もあるのかについては、インドでは1つの言葉色々な意味があり、また、多言語の国故に地域や時代によって意味が変わってくるからではないかとされています。
同じ言葉であっても、どのような意味を重視するかで翻訳名が変わったのではないかと考えられます。

Priests burn Soegomagi (small pieces of wooden board, on which your wishes are written) to pray Nyoirin-Kannon for the fulfillment of your wishes.

As to why there are two different translated names for Kannon Bodhisattva, it is thought that this is because in India, one word can have many different meanings, and because India is a multilingual country, meanings change depending on the region and era.
It is thought that even if the word is the same, the translated name may have changed depending on which meaning was emphasized.
