Information for the beginning of the year.
On January 1st, Goma will be held from midnight, and Shushoe Goma will be held at 1:00 p.m..
"Shushoe" means to practice on New Year's Day, and at Shinkyu-ji Temple, we held the fire ritual, Goma.
Priests burn the "Soe-gomagi" (small pieces of wooden boards written wishes on then) and pray for your fulfillments.
By inviting Fudō Myōō into the flames of the Gomadan(the flame altar), the flames of Goma become the Fudō Myōō itself.
Hold the Gomafuda over this flame so that the power of Fudō Myōō dwells.
Also, by burning the flame in front of you, you can get the benefit of the flame.
Would you like to welcome the New Year with a traditional Japanese ceremony.
Gasho-no-kane (the bell on New Year's day) start at 12:30 p.m.
Whether you want to ring the Jyoya-no-kane but don't want to go out at midnight, or if you want to ring the bell as a celebration of the New Year, please come and visit our temple.
Anyone can join for free.
You can buy "Soe-gomagi" for ¥300 and "Gomafuda"(a wooden talisman which get Goma fire) from three types.(¥3,000, ¥5,000 or ¥10,000)
