It is an ancient temple that is said to have been founded in the first year of Taido (806), but the origin of the founding and the name of the founding are not clear. It was affected by the fires of the Battle of Konodai in 1538 and 1564, and in the Edo period, it was burned in 1722, and in 1761, the resident Kugan rebuilt the main hall, veranda, and sleeping place, and in 1816, it was burned down. The following year, Juji Jisanari rebuilt the main hall, the warehouse, and the entrance, and in addition, in the earthquake in 1855, the main hall was rebuilt by the main hall by the governor Kaishu in 1855. The current main hall is newly built in 1972. In the Edo period, it managed the old shrine Shibamata Hachimangu Shrine in the vicinity, and now has a board monument of 1296, and on the right side of the gate is a stone statue of Gochi Nyorai (designated as a cultural property of Katsushika Ward) built by Saitoji Ryoemon, the head of Shibamata Village in 1660.
